Raising Bertie, is a tremendous documentary on three youth growing up in Bertie County, NC.  Some of our research projects are set in similar communities throughout North Carolina, and our service to the people of North Carolina requires us to have a deep understanding of all parts of our state.

The UNC Morehead Planetarium Science Stage

The screening will be 1p-3p, with a one hour discussion after the film by the producer Ian Kibbe and a panel of Sheps Center researchers reflecting on working in rural North Carolina (Sam Cykert, Crystal Cené, Sherri Green, and Jacquie Halladay).

Anyone with an interest in the people of North Carolina, especially our rural populations, should attend.
