Welcome to the North Carolina Health Professions Data System (HPDS). The 2012 Data Book was released in April 2014. For county, region, and profession data click on the Download Data link.

The HPDS was developed at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to collect and disseminate timely and reliable data on selected licensed health professionals in North Carolina.

Descriptive data are maintained for:

  • certified nurse midwives
  • chiropractors
  • dental hygienists
  • dentists
  • licensed practical nurses
  • nurse practitioners
  • occupational therapists
  • occupational therapy assistants
  • optometrists
  • pharmacists
  • physical therapists
  • physical therapist assistants
  • physician assistants registered with the NC Medical Board
  • physicians (doctors of medicine and osteopathy)
  • physicians in residency training
  • podiatrists
  • practicing psychologists
  • psychological associates
  • registered nurses
  • respiratory therapists
