The North Carolina Health Professions Data System
is maintained by the Policy Unit within the Cecil G. Sheps
Center for Health Services Research in collaboration with
the
North Carolina Area Health Education Centers Program (AHEC)
of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the
independent health professions licensing boards in the State.
It receives ongoing financial support from AHEC and the Office
of the Provost (Health Affairs) at the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Continuous and equivalent data files have been maintained since 1979 although selected data are available beginning in 1976. For most professions these data include name, home address,
business address, birth year, sex, race, information on basic professional
education (i.e., school name and state, year graduated, and degree),
specialty, activity status, form of employment, practice setting,
total hours worked in an average week and percent time in direct
patient care.
For a complete listing of data for each profession,
contact the Health Professions Data Coordinator.
