SPOTLIGHT!
The NIH has announced that eRA Commons bibliography management is transitioning to an enhanced version of My NCBI, the PubMed/NCBI personal space for storing references. Beginning July 23, 2010, PIs were no longer able to enter new citations in eRA Commons and must use My NCBI’s “My Bibliography” tool to create professional bibliographies. Citations currently in eRA Commons needed to be moved to My NCBI's "My Bibliography" by October 22, 2010.
The eRA Commons homepage has instructions on how to set up a My NCBI account, how to link it to an eRA Commons account, and how to delegate management of the My NCBI Bibliography to another person. The eRA Commons homepage also describes features in the My NCBI Bibliography that will assist PIs with tracking NIH Public Access compliance. There is also a 4 minute tutorial called, "Creating Your Bibliography," and a 15 minute video on "Using My Bibliography to Manage Compliance with the NIH Public Access Policy". Here is an overview of submission methods for ensuring that your article appears in PubMed Central. Sometimes PIs or delegates will need to deposit a copy of their article into PubMed Central, 'Method C'. A 12-minute video, Submitting an Article to PubMed Central walks you through the process.
Christiane Voisin can also provide instruction on how to set up and use My NCBI.
