Autism Research Institute (ARI) is devoted to conducting research and to disseminating the results of research, on methods of preventing, diagnosing and treating autism and other severe behavioral disorders of childhood.

Services provided: information based on research to parents and professionals and serve as a link between parents and researchers who are in need of carefully diagnosed samples of children for research purposes. Information to parents is provided by mail or phone. ARI also publishes a quarterly newsletter and has a publication list of information packets.

Autism Treatment Center of America: The Son-Rise Program. This treatment program was created by parents for parents and professionals. It teaches them to design and implement home-based/child-centered programs. The Son-Rise Program believes that parents are their child's best resource so the educational program is designed not only to work with children, but parents as well. Parents are taught concrete educational and attitudinal tools and techniques.

Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) is an organization that trains parents and teachers in the CARD ABA Method of behavior modification so that program methods can be applied at home. Community inclusion and therapy team can provide services at home. (Accepts funding through the CAP- MR/DD program)

Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities or with disabilities and/or the gifted.

Services provided: provides publications for educators. Can also provide referral to ERIC Clearinghouse for Handicapped and Gifted children.

Families for Early Autism Treatment is a non-profit organization of parents, educators, and other professionals dedicated to providing world-class Education, Advocacy and Support for the Northern California Autism Community

Services provided: site provides information to parents of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders including Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD), and Asperger’s Syndrome, and to professionals about FEAT, its goals, organization, and how FEAT can help families, as well as to provide information about other available resources.

More advanced individuals with Autism, Asperger's syndrome, and Pervasive developmental disorder (MAAP) is dedicated to assisting family members of more advanced individuals with autism by offering information and advice on autism and by providing the opportunity to network with others in similar circumstances. MAAP also works to inform professional and the general public about more advanced individual with autism and how to meet their needs.

Organization for Autism Research (OAR) is a non-profit organization formed and led by parents and grandparents of children and adults with autism. Its purpose is to put applied science to work in providing answers to questions that parent, families, individuals with autism, teachers and caregivers confront each day.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI). SSI is a program that pays monthly benefits to people with low incomes and limited assets who are 65 or older, or blind, or disabled. Children can qualify if they meet Social Security's definition of disability for SSI children and if their income and assets fall within the eligibility limits. As its name implies, Supplemental Security Income supplements a person's income up to a certain level. People who get SSI can usually get food stamps and Medicaid, too. Medicaid helps pay doctor and hospital bills.

The Arc of the United States is the national organization of and for people with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities and their families. It is devoted to promoting and improving supports and services for people with mental retardation and their families. The association also fosters research and education regarding the prevention of mental retardation in infants and young children.
