Shikira Thomas, MSPH

Shikira Thomas is a Research Associate-Project Manager for the Health Workforce Research Center. She provides support in coordination, planning and implementation of the center’s projects. She is a recent MSPH graduate from the Department of Health Behavior at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. Shikira’s research interests are in how social phenomena such as colorism and discrimination influence disease outcomes in Blacks.

Heather Wilson

Heather Wilson is a Research Assistant and Communications Specialist with the Program on Health Workforce and Policy. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where she specialized in creative non-fiction and English literature. Her work since has evolved around helping academic programs, educators and researchers tell their stories, in a variety of platforms. Web design and organization, photography, new media (infographics, etc), traditional print projects such as brochures, rack cards, post cards–she has done it all. She is especially interested in using her skills as a communicator to help public health and public policy researchers turn results into meaningful messages.
