North Carolina is experiencing profound demographic changes: our state’s growing population is increasingly diverse, we face looming impacts of population age, and disparities between urban and rural counties are widening. This presentation will provide a big picture overview of these trends in North Carolina, with specific attention to impacts on rural counties.

Dr. Tippett’s areas of expertise include population estimates and forecasts, migration, and indicators of economic well-being. Her experience includes designing and implementing surveys for state agencies to meet federal reporting guidelines and evaluating different estimation methodologies for the U.S. Census Bureau. She regularly writes and presents about the impact of demographic and social trends in North Carolina
