Jennifer Headley, MSW

Jennifer Headley, MSW is a Project Manager/Research Associate with the Program on Health Workforce Research and Policy. In her role, Jennifer assists with study design and planning, manages project implementation, and facilitates research dissemination. Her work focuses on two projects: 1) a 5-year project evaluating the impact of the UNC System Office nursing program expansion grants on increasing the number of nursing graduates from UNC System nursing programs and increasing the number of nurses in the NC workforce, and 2) a behavioral health workforce landscape project building the data infrastructure to analyze the adequacy of NC’s behavioral health workforce.

Jennifer earned her Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Grinnell College. Jennifer has over 15 years of health research and management experience, working on a range of rigorous research and evaluation studies, including exploratory qualitative studies, program evaluations, longitudinal mixed methods studies, impact evaluations, implementation studies, and randomized controlled trials. She previously worked at UNC Chapel Hill’s TEACCH Autism Program, Duke Global Health Institute, FHI 360, and was a Rural Health Peace Corps Volunteer in the Ivory Coast. She is passionate about ensuring research is useful, can help inform decisions, and can be applied to our daily lives. Her research interests include health services, mental health, and community engagement. She has expertise in qualitative and mixed methods studies. She has taught qualitative analysis and served as a qualitative consultant. She is looking forward to expanding her research portfolio to focus on the healthcare workforce.
