Sheryl Zimmerman featured in UNC Research Stories

We are proud to celebrate Dr. Sheryl Zimmerman — a true pioneer in aging and long-term care research, and a cornerstone of the Sheps Center community.

As co-director of our Program on Aging, Chronic Illness, and Long-Term Care, and executive director of CEAL@UNC, Sheryl has helped shape UNC into a national leader in nursing home and assisted living research. Her work has transformed how we understand and support people living with dementia and those who care for them.

With over 450 peer-reviewed publications, multiple national awards, and decades of leadership, Sheryl’s contributions continue to drive meaningful change for one of the fastest-growing populations in our state and country.

We’re honored to work alongside her and excited to see how her research continues to improve the lives of older adults and their caregivers.
