Sasha Zabelski accepted to prestigious AcademyHealth Program
Dr. Sasha Zabelski, a Program Manager with the Behavior Health Services Research Program at Sheps, has been accepted to the AcademyHealth Champions for Health Services and Prevention Research Program.
The Champions for Health Services and Prevention Research Program (supported by the Doris Duke Foundation) will train health services researchers on best practices for policy communication that can then be used to effectively engage policymakers. This 15-month program will involve online videos about the policymaking process, meetings with other researchers in the program to discuss approaches to engaging policymakers and scheduling 1-3 meetings with the participant’s local policymakers to discuss important evidence in their research area that can inform local policy. The program participants will also get to discuss their experience through blog posts, short videos, and presentations with support from AcademyHealth.
Being a part of the Champions for Health Services and Prevention Research Program is an exciting opportunity for Dr. Zabelski to strengthen her ability to discuss research evidence on the benefits of funding and supporting community-based mental health services in an accessible way. Through this program, she aims to establish long-term relationships with local policymakers by providing reliable, current evidence on mental health care.
Congratulations Sasha!
