Jada Walker | Associate Director for Research Initiatives | Sheps Center

jada wJada Walker, MA, is Associate Director for Research Initiatives in the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). She has a background in psychology and counseling as well as over 15 years of experience in health and public health research.

Ms. Walker has a wealth of experience in complex program management of health-related research projects. She recently completed a ten year Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) – funded evaluation of the implementation of statewide legislation intended to combat childhood obesity through school and community efforts. She has also been coordinator of multifaceted programs for a Prevention Research Center (PRC), a statewide Tobacco Cessation Network, and the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI). She managed the creation and establishment of a housing facility with supportive services for HIV+ adults with serious mental illnesses, and has served on advisory and review committees, as well as providing lectures and trainings on health research topics. She holds a Master’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
