Katie Gaul is the Deputy Director of the Health Workforce Technical Assistance Center (HWTAC). She is also a research associate at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research. The majority of her work is centered on collecting, analyzing and reporting data on licensed health professionals in North Carolina; gathering national workforce data for benchmarking North Carolina supply; working with stakeholders interested in health workforce data; providing technical assistance to other states interested in setting up their own health workforce data systems; and mapping data relevant to health services research (particularly rural health and health workforce). Additionally, Ms. Gaul handles quick-turnaround requests for data and information on the health workforce, county and sub-county rural definitions, and other related health data. She also has more than 15 years of experience in mapping design software.
