In response to Senate Bill 1016 which mandates that nursing homes report medication errors, this project is developing and implementing a nursing home medication error reporting system for the State of North Carolina. This is a collaborative effort with key staff within the Division of Health Services Regulation, as well as nursing home industry representatives. An incident specific reporting format and an annual report are being developed, nursing home staff are being trained to collect and report the data, data are being received and analyzed, and annual summary reports are being prepared.
