Dietitians added to HPDS in newly released 2025 data

We recently updated the Health Professions Data System (HPDS) data dashboard with 2025 data. For the first time in many years, a new profession was added with the 2025 update – dietitians. The supply, distribution, and demographic characteristics are now visible on the dashboard.

The HPDS supply visualization for dietitians; a county-level map of North Carolina displaying the dietitians per 10,000 population. The visualization also displays the total supply, percent female, percent 65 or older, percent underrepresented minority, and percent of dietitians who are missing race data.

About the HPDS

The HPDS collects and disseminates descriptive data on selected licensed health professionals in North Carolina. With annual files dating back to 1979, the HPDS is the oldest continuous state health workforce data system in the country. Data include active, licensed health professionals practicing in North Carolina as of October 31 of each data year. Publicly available data can be accessed through the data dashboard or through downloadable files.
